Where to stay
The historic centre starts at the Plotinka, a dam on the Iset river surrounded by the Historical Square, the City Pond embankment and the Church on the Blood. From here you can walk to pedestrian Vainera Street, Lenin Avenue, theatres and most museums. The Yeltsin Center lies a little north by the pond, next to the Yekaterinburg-City towers, a quieter modern area. The station district suits transit stays and is a few metro stops from the centre.
When to go
The city works all year: short warm summers, snowy winters. Big trade fairs such as Innoprom in July fill central rooms.
Getting there
Koltsovo airport, south-east of the city, has buses to the centre and station. Trains from Moscow take over a day.
