Where to stay
Sudak spreads along a wide bay, so choosing a place mostly means choosing how far you are from the sea. The central promenade is the liveliest part: everything is close, but summer evenings are loud. Towards the Genoese fortress the streets climb uphill, with bay views and quieter nights. Uyutnoye, a western district beyond the fortress hill, is calmer. Novy Svet, a separate village a few kilometres west, is slower-paced, with juniper groves and clear coves.
When to go
Swimming season runs from mid-June to late September; July and August are the warmest and the busiest. Late May and September are milder and good for walks. In winter many places close.
Getting there
Travel across the Crimean Bridge by train to Feodosia or Simferopol, then by bus or taxi to Sudak. Simferopol airport is closed to passenger flights.
