Where to stay
Sirius is a federal territory on the Imeretinskaya lowland between Adler and the Abkhazian border, built up for the 2014 Olympics, so most hotels, apartments and cottages are new. Staying near Olympic Park and Sochi Park suits families and anyone coming for concerts, matches or the evening fountain shows. Closer to the sea, the Imeretinsky Resort quarters face a long flat promenade with pebble beaches, quieter than central Adler and good for walking and cycling.
When to go
Swimming lasts from June to October, warmest in August and September. In winter the coast stays mild and Lastochka trains reach the Krasnaya Polyana slopes in about forty minutes.
Getting there
Sochi airport is a 10–20 minute taxi ride away. Long-distance and Lastochka trains stop at Olympic Park station, with trains up to Rosa Khutor.
