Where to stay
Sheregesh in Gornaya Shoria is two places. Almost everything visitors come for is at the foot of Mount Zelyonaya: lifts, rentals, cafes and a dense cluster of hotels and apartments known as Sector E. Staying there puts you minutes from the chairlift, though evenings can be loud. The mining village of Sheregesh lies a few kilometres lower: quieter, with guesthouses, but you need a bus or taxi to the slopes.
When to go
Snow comes early and stays long: the season usually runs from November or December to April, known for deep powder. January can be very cold. New Year and spring festival weekends book up far ahead.
Getting there
Fly to Novokuznetsk, then about three hours by transfer, bus or taxi. Trains go to Novokuznetsk or Tashtagol.
