Where to stay

Central Sevastopol, with Primorsky Boulevard, the Grafskaya Pier, Nakhimov Square and Artbukhta, suits history lovers: museums and embankments are close, and ferries cross the bay to the North Side. Beaches in the centre are small. The North Side, with Uchkuevka, Lyubimovka and Kacha, has sand-and-pebble beaches. Balaklava is a narrow bay of yachts, with beaches reached by boat or over the hill. Fiolent has cliffs and Jasper Beach, down a long staircase.

When to go

Swimming runs June to September; July and August are busiest. Spring and autumn suit sightseeing.

Getting there

Simferopol airport has been closed to passenger flights since 2022. Travel by train or bus over the Crimean Bridge; during rail works some trains terminate in Kerch with bus connections.
