Central Grozny is compact and modern, and most visitors stay there. Key landmarks are the Heart of Chechnya Mosque, the Grozny City towers and the Sunzha embankment with parks and promenades, all walkable. Many use the city as a base for trips to Lake Kezenoyam, the Argun gorge and old towers, one to two and a half hours away. Modest dress is expected in public.
Spring and autumn are most pleasant; summer is hot. Few tourists come in winter.
Grozny airport has flights from Moscow. A direct train from Moscow takes about a day and a half.
