Where to stay

Old Feodosia runs along the sea: the Aivazovsky picture gallery, the Genoese fortress, the embankment and a railway station right by the beach. The centre suits those who want to explore the town and make trips to Koktebel and Stary Krym; its beaches get crowded in high season. East of town, towards Beregovoe and Primorsky, the long sandy Golden Beach slopes gently into the sea. It is good for children, though the old centre is a bus ride away.

When to go

Swimming runs June to September, with July and August busiest. May and October are quiet and warm.

Getting there

Simferopol airport is closed to passenger flights. Trains and buses arrive over the Crimean Bridge; during rail works some trains stop in Kerch with bus transfers.
