Where to stay

Yevpatoria is western Crimea: flat shore, sandy beaches and shallow sea, popular with families and sanatorium guests. The resort zone along the sea is a strip of sanatoriums and promenade, a few minutes from the beach, with trams into town. The Old Town, with Karaite kenesas and the Juma-Jami mosque, is good for evening walks. For quiet and sand, look at Zaozyornoye or Novoozyornoye.

When to go

The shallow sea warms early, so swimming runs June to September; July and August are the peak. Mud-cure sanatoriums work off-season too.

Getting there

Yevpatoria is about two hours by bus from Simferopol, less by taxi, and some trains to Crimea arrive here directly. Check whether Simferopol airport is operating.
