Essentuki is a spa town of mineral waters and mud treatments, and life revolves around the Resort Park with its pump rooms, mud baths, galleries and shady alleys. Sanatoriums, hotels and flats nearby suit visitors on a treatment course who walk to the springs several times a day. The station, close to the resort area, has local trains to Pyatigorsk and Kislovodsk. Guesthouses on outlying streets are quieter but further from the park.
The spa runs all year. May–June and September–October have the best weather; summer is hot and busiest.
Fly to Mineralnye Vody, then take a bus, taxi or local train. Long-distance trains from Moscow stop in Essentuki.
