Dombay is a small village among the peaks of the Teberda reserve, with nearly all lodging on a few streets by the lifts, so most places are a walk from the gondolas. Near the lower stations there are more cafes, rentals and evening noise; the edges are quieter. If the village is full, stay in Teberda down the valley and drive up. In summer it is a base for hikes to the Baduk lakes and Alibek glacier.
Skiing usually runs December to April; New Year and February to March book up first. June to September is hiking season.
Fly or take a train to Mineralnye Vody, then several hours by taxi, transfer or bus via Cherkessk and Teberda. Check the mountain road conditions in winter.
